چکیده

Ni-, Cu-, and Fe-loaded acidic and basic Y zeolites were synthesized, and their catalytic properties for oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane (ODHE) to ethylene were characterized. Acidic Ni-loaded Y zeolite exhibits an ethylene productivity of up to 1:08 gC2H4 g 1 cat h 1 with a selectivity of 75%. Acidic Cuand Fe-loaded Y zeolites have an ethylene productivity of up to 0:37 gC2H4 g 1 cat h 1 and a selectivity of 50%. For the same metal, the acidity of the zeolite favors both ODHE productivity and ethylene selectivity. Extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) studies show that Ni, present in particles on Ni/HY during the ODHE catalytic process, contains both Ni–Ni and Ni–O bonds, and that the ratio of oxidized Ni versus metallic Ni increases with the temperature. The insights these studies provide into the ODHE reaction mechanism are discussed. 2009 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

A study by electrical conductivity measurements of the semiconductive and redox properties of Nb-doped NiO catalysts in correlation with the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane.

Nb-doped nickel oxides with Nb contents in the range from 1 to 20% and, for comparison, pure NiO, were characterized using in situ electrical conductivity measurements in correlation with their catalytic performances for the oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethane into ethylene. Their electrical conductivity was studied as a function of temperature and oxygen partial pressure and was followed...

The role of lattice oxygen in the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane on alumina-supported vanadium oxide.

The oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of ethane on alumina-supported vanadia was investigated with the aim of understanding the effects of lattice oxygen and vanadium oxidation state on the catalyst ODH activity and ethene selectivity. Transient-response experiments were carried out with both a fully oxidized sample of 10 wt% VO(x)/Al(2)O(3) (7 V nm(-2)) and a sample that had been partially reduc...

Heterogeneous Partial (amm)Oxidation and Oxidative Dehydrogenation Catalysis on Mixed Metal Oxides

This paper presents an overview of heterogeneous partial (amm)oxidation and oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of hydrocarbons. The review has been voluntarily restricted to metal oxide-type catalysts, as the partial oxidation field is very broad and the number of catalysts is quite high. The main factors of solid catalysts for such reactions, designated by Grasselli as the “seven pillars”, and pl...

Effect of Catalyst Structure on Oxidative Dehydrogenationof Ethane and Propane on Alumina-Supported Vanadia

The catalytic properties of Al2O3-supported vanadia with a wide range of VOx surface density (1.4-34.2 V/nm) and structure were examined for the oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane and propane. UV-visible and Raman spectra showed that vanadia is dispersed predominately as isolated monovanadate species below ~2.3 V/nm. As surface densities increase, two-dimensional polyvanadates appear (2.3-7.0 ...

The role and stability of Li2O2 phase in supported LiCl catalyst in oxidative dehydrogenation of n-butane

This study was aimed at defining the role of active phases in supported LiCl and LiCl–DyCl3 catalysts in the catalytic oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of n-butane. LiCl supported on silica displayed the highest activity and selectivity in n-butane ODH compared with other alkali metal halides. Addition of DyCl3 increased the activity. TPO, XRD and Raman light scattering (RLS) data showed that Li...
